Giving Thanks

Friends and followers
who click, tweet, and buzz my posts
whether short or long

For joining me on
my winding road to greenness,
thank you one and all.

For your reflection as you prepare for your celebrations, I offer these words from Chief Dan George of the Tsleil-waututh Nation in Burrard Inlet, British Columbia (born Geswanouth Slahoot), who lived from 1899-1981 and was both a well-known author and an actor in films:

The beauty of the trees,
the softness of the air,
the fragrance of the grass,
     speaks to me.

The summit of the mountain,
the thunder of the sky,
the rhythm of the sea,
     speaks to me.

The faintness of the stars,
the freshness of the morning,
the dewdrop of the flower,
    speaks to me.

The strength of fire,
the taste of salmon,
the trail of the sun,
and the life that never goes away,
     they speak to me.

And my heart soars.
