Thanks to your post last week we got our two feeders out of the garage and set them up in our garden (then we went out of town for the week). Nice to have this little hummer greeting us on our return. When we lived in AZ we used to regularly get three or so different species of hummers to our patio feeders, but I hadn't thought to try to attract any here.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18060988565727790048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-800723929755035654.post-8730869406330494952010-08-02T21:48:37.216-04:002010-08-02T21:48:37.216-04:00Thanks for a kind word and a nice update :)Thanks for a kind word and a nice update :)Icelandic Fishhttp://icelandicfish.tumblr.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-800723929755035654.post-62407029898174644582010-08-01T19:48:07.390-04:002010-08-01T19:48:07.390-04:00I have both impatiens and salvia, but alas no humm...I have both impatiens and salvia, but alas no hummers yet. And our feeder is a red one. Still waiting patiently. I wonder if we might be too close to traffic.elisdaughterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04307050283380901332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-800723929755035654.post-8133249009713202052010-08-01T19:20:04.872-04:002010-08-01T19:20:04.872-04:00As you can surmise from the color of most feeders,...As you can surmise from the color of most feeders, bright red attracts hummingbird. So, to increase your odds of visitors, have some flowers running the red gamut near your feeder. Any bright red, bold pink and red-orange blooms will do the trick whether in pots or in beds. Some flowers I've had luck with include lobelia, salvia, impatiens, and, especially, hibiscus. A friend has had luck with her banks of hollyhocks & foxglove.La Voce di Carlohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00457193617954616528noreply@blogger.com
